Queensland cardiology and heart surgery

St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital was one of the first private hospitals in Queensland to take a lead in cardiac care and treatment, from becoming the first to perform open heart surgery, to the first to offer a transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).

In 2025, we became the first hospital in Australia to be awarded Cardiac Catheter Lab Accreditation with PCI by the American College of Cardiology, which qualifies us to join the College’s International Centres of Excellence. We continue to pave the way with advanced technology and highly skilled surgeons trained in the latest minimally invasive techniques and a comprehensive range of treatments and procedures.

St Andrew’s cardiologists provide consultation, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Together with our cardiothoracic surgeons and cardiac specialty nurses, we provide comprehensive care, including diagnostic and interventional cardiology, as well as elective and emergency heart surgery. We provide best-prepared surgical practice to handle procedures that may be complex or complicated by underlying illness or age.
