Jana Suthers
Gender health physiotherapist

Jana graduated from Central Queensland University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Human Movement Science. She completed her Masters of Physiotherapy studies in 2009 at The University of Queensland. For the past 13 years, she has spent her time working across two UnitingCare hospitals. After five years as a physiotherapist, she found her special interest in women’s and men’s health and has done extensive professional development in this area.

She has contributed to the physiotherapy profession as an Australian Physiotherapy Association Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health committee member from 2015 to 2020, where she organised professional development events for other physiotherapists in the field. As a part of this, Jana has co-ordinated a pelvic pain course and developed lectures for physiotherapists new to the area. She is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Leadership (Health and Human services) to learn how to continually improve our service.

Jana works across the inpatient and outpatient settings and enjoys all aspects of both. She enjoys treating all conditions in women’s and men’s health, including urinary incontinence (stress and urgency), pelvic pain, faecal incontinence, constipation, pre and post prostatectomy, post breast surgery rehabilitation (cording and lymphoedema). She also completed the Level 1 Lymphoedema Course in 2015.

Outside of work Jana enjoys yoga, going to the gym, baking and being a mum of two.
