Dr Tiarna Ernst MBBS (Hons) MReprod Med, FRANZCOG
Tiarna was born and raised in a remote indigenous community in Far North Queensland. She attended James Cook University in Townsville Queensland, studying a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and graduated with First Class Honours in 2011.
Tiarna completed internship and residency in Queensland, before moving to Victoria in 2014 to pursue her career and sporting dreams. While attending university and working as a junior doctor, Tiarna continued to balance her sporting interests with the demands of her career. She was accepted into the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology training program and completed a six-year speciality Fellowship in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
While working as a full time Obstetrics & Gynaecology registrar in both Melbourne and Brisbane she has balanced the demands of being an elite athlete. She was drafted to the Western Bulldogs in the inaugural AFL Womens Competition, playing three seasons and every fixture game with the Western Bulldogs and was a Premiership wining player in 2018.
Tiarna currently practices gynaecology and fertility through her rooms in Newstead and also holds a public appointment as an obstetrician & gynaecologist at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. She has a special interest in endometriosis, laparoscopic surgery, infertility, menstrual management and empowering women to take control of their menstrual cycles.
