Dr Sunny Lee is an interventional gastroenterologist specialising in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. His special clinical interests are in the management of pancreatic lesions and pancreaticobiliary diseases, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), advanced colonoscopy in resection of large polyps (EMR) together with general gastroenterology and hepatology.
Dr Lee graduated in Medicine from Monash University (2004). He completed his gastroenterology training at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne, before commencing his sub-specialty training in interventional endoscopy at Concord Hospital in Sydney. He then undertook an advanced fellowship in ERCP and EUS at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada (2014). Whilst in Vancouver, Dr Lee also completed his Master of Public Health (University of Sydney) with research into endoscopy unit funding.
In addition to his clinical interests, Dr Lee is involved in medical education as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and a clinical researcher in endoscopy. He is a proud member of ANZGITA, a volunteer association delivering gastroenterology and endoscopy training programs to doctors and nurses in AsiaPacific.
Dr Lee joined St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital to spearhead the creation of an ERCP/interventional endoscopy service in Spring 2014. He provides a comprehensive gastroenterology inpatient service here at St Andrew’s and consults on site at the St. Andrews Sessional Suites. He is also a staff specialist gastroenterologist at the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee II Hospital and VMO at Mater Hospital.
