Doctor Details

Dr Yang joined BrizBrain & Spine from the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital where he was Director of Orthopaedic Surgery and Director of Spine Surgery Fellowship, whilst also in solo practice.

Since 2007 Dr Yang has specialized in complex spine reconstruction and vertebral tumour surgery as well as all aspects of adult and paediatric spine surgery spine, hand and peripheral nerve surgeries.

Dr Yang completed his Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery in 1994 and spent a few years gaining experience in various surgical specialties. He then undertook advanced training in orthopaedic surgery and obtained the Fellowship of the Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004. Dr Yang went on to further his specialty training by completing a Fellowship in Hand Surgery in Sydney in 2006, followed by a Fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery also in 2006.

Dr Yang has also broadened his horizons in cutting edge spine surgery by visiting fellowship appointments in Cleveland Ohio, New York and Germany.
Dr Yang is actively involved in research in the areas of spinal infection and oncology through the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Dr Yang is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, School of Medicine and continues to advance his skills in all areas of spinal and hand surgery.
Dr Yang is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Australian Medical Association, Asia Pacific orthopaedic Association and the Spine Society of Australia.

Dr Yang commenced practice at St Andrew’s in 2007.
