Dr Sam Kim is a highly attentive clinician who has over two decades of broad postgraduate clinical experience in General and Subspecialty Medicine with Accreditation in Adult Respiratory and Sleep Medicine.  He is highly skilled in solving complex diagnostic issues.  His expertise include interventional pulmonology such as bronchial thermoplasty (BT) for severe asthma, airway stenting and endoscopic lung volume reduction (ELVR) in severe emphysema.  

His research interests include population epidemiology of chronic disease and their impact on health and well-being, rehabilitation of chronic lung disease and neurocognitive aspects of impaired sleep rhythm which affects people worldwide.

Dr Kim graduated from the University of Queensland in 1994.  He qualified for FRACP in 2003 and completed additional postgraduate training through Master of Public Health in 2014 and MBA in 2015 from the University of Newcastle, Master of Sleep Medicine from the University of Sydney in 2016 and currently training in Law through Deakin Law School with specialisation in health reform.

Experience includes clinical/research fellow as a NHMRC Scholar (2003-2006), work at various major teaching hospitals including Prince Charles and Royal Brisbane, visiting thoracic physician at Rockhampton Health District (2004 -2006), visiting thoracic physician at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital (2005-current), Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, Brisbane Private Hospital and private clinics in Northern NSW (2007 – current).

Dr Kim is an active member of RACP, TSANZ, ATS, ERS, WABIP, APSR, AMA, The Physiological Society, Medicolegal Society of Queensland and EPA (Esoteric Practitioners Association) and continues to develop his expertise through innovative pulmonology programs as they become available.

He commenced private practice at St Andrew’s Place in November 2005 and continues his diligent work with people from all walks of life and philosophies.
