Dr Malcolm Davison graduated with Honours, from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1981. He commenced intern training at the Mater Misericordae Public Hospital, Brisbane, in January 1982, advancing to the position of Registrar in Internal Medicine in 1984. In 1988, he was appointed as an Advanced Cardiology Registrar at The Prince Charles Hospital where he concluded his training in 1989. The Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Cardiology) was gained in 1988.

During 1990, Malcolm undertook a year of advance training in cardiac ultrasound, at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio USA. There he gained significant expertise in all facets of cardiac ultrasound including transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, and the then new area of intra-operative echocardiography. He retuned to Brisbane in 1991 commencing a combined practice of Private Consultative Cardiology and Public Hospital work as a Visiting Consultant Cardiologist at both the Mater Misericordae and The Prince Charles Hospitals. He was a foundation member of the Queensland Cardiovascular Group, formed in 1993.

Since 2002, Malcolm has worked exclusively in private practice consulting at both the Mater Private and St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital diagnostic centres of Queensland Cardiovascular Group. In June 2004, he also commenced consultative practice at the Greenslopes Private Hospital, Brisbane.

Dr Malcolm Davison practices in general consultative cardiology, coronary angiography and with a special interest in non-invasive investigations including exercise stress testing, exercise stress testing, stress echocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography.
His area of subspecialty expertise is cardiac ultrasound.
