Dr Joseph Schoeman MBBS (Pretoria), FRACS Urology, FCS Urology SA
I obtained my MBBS (MBChB) at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and went on to complete my Urology Fellowship (FCS, College of Urologists of South Africa). I ran my own successful private urology practice at the largest private hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa
for five years. As a Fellow in laparoscopic urological surgery in Melbourne, I was able to equip myself for the laparoscopic era. I relocated to Bundaberg opening a general urology practice.
I have always enjoyed being a general urologist with laparoscopic, endoscopic and open surgical skills. Being part of the first Pelvic Medicine Centre in Queensland at St Andrew’s is a dream come true. I am one of a handful of urologists in Australia to have performed radical perineal prostatectomy on selected patients. I also enjoy the endoscopic and percutaneous management of stone disease. My passion and future direction is the management of male and female incontinence with pelvic floor reconstruction in female patients.
