Dr Alexander Dashwood

Dr Alexander Dashwood is a dual-trained cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology, arrhythmia management and advanced heart failure. As a heart rhythm specialist, his interests include implantable devices and catheter ablation of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation.
Dr Dashwood has a particular interest in heart failure patients needing arrhythmia management and device intervention including conduction system pacing, cardiac resynchronization and defibrillators. Dr Dashwood utilizes device and app-based technology to optimize heart failure management and enhance patient quality of life.
Dr Dashwood completed his cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital in Australia, followed by a clinical fellowship in advanced heart failure and transplantation at the same institution. He undertook a clinical fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the Victorian Heart Hospital in Melbourne and is completing his PhD researching arrhythmogenesis in the failing heart.
Dr Dashwood has authored several peer-reviewed papers in basic science and cardiology journals. Passionate about education, he is a former member of the CSANZ education committee and co-founder of the Association of Queensland Advanced Trainees in Cardiology, a charitable organization providing education for future cardiologists.
Dr Dashwood has held a staff specialist position at The Prince Charles Hospital and continues to provide rural cardiac care with Heart of Australia. He is now a cardiologist and electrophysiologist with QCG. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.
