COVID-19 Update

    Queensland Health has advised that St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Centre was visited by a person infected with COVID-19 yesterday, Friday 30 July.

    This patient was not admitted and was sent home to isolate. At this stage, only the Emergency Centre is an area of concern.

    Since being advised of the contact by Queensland Health, we have been following their guidelines to ensure the safety of our patients and staff within the hospital.

    The health and safety of the people we serve, our employees and volunteers is our highest priority.

    To contain the spread of COVID-19 and to keep our patients and staff safe, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital is restricting visitors.

    Visitors are currently restricted.

    Exceptions to this include the following (masks are currently required for anyone entering the hospital):

    • A support person may remain with a patient if they are carer for a child under the age of 18 or carer for a patient with a disability.
    • End of life support, which must be approved by the hospital General Manager

    Thank you for your understanding. Our dedicated teams are doing their best to keep everyone safe and well.

    You should not come to the hospital if you:

    • have travelled overseas (not including Government recognised Safe Travel Zones) or from a declared hot spot, place of concern or an exposure venue or had close contact with a person who has COVID-19 in the previous 14 days.
    • are unwell or sick with symptoms such as a fever (37.5 degrees or more), a cough, runny nose, sore throat, breathing difficulties and/or loss of taste and/or loss of smell?
    • are waiting on COVID-19 test results.

    At the entrance to the hospital, everyone entering is required to have theirtemperature screened using a thermal imaging camera; and complete the Checkin Qld App.

    Please note, St Andrew’s Emergency is currently closed.
