St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery following an independent accreditation by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).
As an SRC-accredited Centre of Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery, St Andrew’s has demonstrated its commitment to safe, high-quality care and optimal outcomes for patients through a rigorous evaluation process.
The inspection evaluates a range of criteria including surgical volumes and experience, treatment pathways, equipment and patient education, and once achieved signals an embedded culture of quality and safety.
General Manager, Mairi McNeill, said the Centre of Excellence is a testament to St Andrew’s multi-disciplinary orthopaedics team and highly-skilled orthopaedic surgeons.
“The Surgical Review Corporation’s Centre of Excellence accreditation signifies patient safety, quality, expertise and training,” Mairi said.
“We know the Surgical Review Corporation’s Centre of Excellence accreditation program has been shown to improve outcomes and reduce time spent by patients in hospital, which is central to everything we do at St Andrew’s and part of why we committed to this evaluation process.
“For our patients, when they come to St Andrew’s for orthopaedic surgery such as hip or knee replacement, they can expect to be cared for by a highly-experienced team who benchmark their treatments and care against hospitals globally.
“Importantly, the accreditation is not a one-time assessment but an ongoing commitment to quality improvement. The accreditation will underpin our continuous improvement initiatives, clinical education programs, and existing focus on delivering advancements in treatment and care,” she said.
The Surgical Review Corporation is an internationally recognised, non-profit, patient-safety organisation that administers best-in-class accreditation programs for medical professionals, surgeons, hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
St Andrew’s joins the The Wesley Hospital as the only two hospitals in Australia to currently hold this accreditation by the Surgical Review Corporation.
Together with The Wesley Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital and St Stephen’s Hospital in Hervey Bay, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital is proudly part of UnitingCare’s network of not-for-profit private hospitals.
