Every year, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital celebrates the commitment and service of their people on one very special day in November, St Andrew’s Day.
The day is not only St Andrew’s Feast Day, but a day to award long serving team members, honour outstanding staff with the prestigious Spirit of St Andrew’s Award, and rejoice in the hospital’s uniquely Scottish roots.
This year, the hospital recognised staff who received 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10 and five years of service, while 17 staff received the Spirit of St Andrew’s Award which celebrates those who have gone above and then beyond for our patients and their families.
General Manager, Mairi McNeill, said the day was always a special occasion for staff.
“This year, we’re celebrating 148 team members achieving length of service milestones, some whose service to our community spans more than three decades,” Mairi said.
“Our Spirit of St Andrew’s Awards are given to those who demonstrate excellence that reflects our Mission and Values, and highlights all of the incredible things our people do to make the experience of our patients the best it can be.
“Often, it’s the work that goes on behind the scenes and some of our quiet achievers who shine at our Spirit of St Andrew’s Awards and that’s what it’s all about,” she said.
