St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the official opening of its new Day Surgery Centre, a purpose-built facility designed to meet growing demand for same-day surgical procedures in the heart of Brisbane.
Following months of construction, recruitment and preparedness activities, the St Andrew’s Day Surgery Centre team welcomed their first patients in May.
Located directly opposite the main hospital on North Street in Spring Hill, St Andrew’s Day Surgery Centre offers a modern, patient-focused environment for adults and children undergoing a range of same-day procedures.
The new facility features an operating theatre, two procedure rooms, admission and recovery areas, and is seamlessly connected to our main hospital via a linkway bridge, ensuring convenient access to comprehensive care.
The Centre is also is among the first facilities of its kind in Australia to operate with a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record, laying the foundations for future digital enablement across our group of UnitingCare hospitals.
General Manager, Mairi McNeill, said the opening marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to expand and increase our ability to provide surgical treatment through our new Day Surgery Centre,” Mairi said.
“In addition to the growing healthcare needs of our community, the Centre has been designed with changing patient and clinician preferences for same-day procedures in mind.
“St Andrew’s Day Surgery Centre will enhance patient experience and timely access for patients and their referring doctors to high-quality and efficient surgical care,” she said.
St Andrew's Day Surgery Centre underscores the hospital's commitment to adapting to evolving healthcare needs and enhancing patient experiences.
