An independent survey of patients has found that the Emergency Centre at Brisbane’s St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital has the highest rate of patient satisfaction for emergency services in Australia.
More than 6000 patients from 67 public and private hospitals across Australia and New Zealand were involved in the 2016 Press Ganey patient satisfaction surveys.
St Andrew’s Emergency Centre outranked its peers for having the shortest wait times, the best pain management for patients, informed delays, the shortest wait times for radiology tests and staff friendliness to patients and their families.
St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital Emergency Centre Director Sean Rothwell said the results reflected the hospital’s dedication to providing first class treatment for patients.
“We are committed to providing quality and timely care for all our patients.” Dr Rothwell said.
“Our emergency care has one of the lowest waiting times in Australia and is staffed by highly experienced doctors and nurses.
“As part of the UnitingCare Health group of hospitals, we instil values such as compassion and respect in our staff to ensure we provide a patient-centred service. It’s great to see that this is reflected in the experience of our patients.”
St Andrew’s Emergency Centre provides health care for adults and children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and features life-saving critical care resuscitation areas, bedside ultrasound, orthopaedic procedure rooms and eye equipment. It is supported by on-site 24-hour radiology and pathology services and a comprehensive range of inpatient specialty teams.
