Dr Lawrence Lee MBBS, FRANZCO, FRACS
Associate Professor Lawrence Lee is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and City Eye Centre, Wickham Terrace, Brisbane. A/Prof Lee has expertise in medical and surgical retinal diseases, with particular interests in the treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and eye trauma.
A/Prof Lee undertook his ophthalmology training in Brisbane and completed a Retinal Fellowship at the Sydney Eye Hospital. He was then awarded the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists /Alcon Fellowship to pursue further retinal training with the eminent Professor J. Donald M. Gass at the Ophthalmology Department of the Vanderbilt University Nashville, Tennessee USA. He later worked at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where he was involved in managing complex retinal disorders, ocular trauma and vitreoretinal surgery. A/Prof Lee has published over 90 journal and conference papers locally and on an international level.
A/Prof Lawrence Lee has over 15 years experience in managing medical and surgical retinal cases including emergency retinal detachment repair and trauma surgery and has accepted referrals from all over Queensland, and overseas. As well as St Andrew’s Hospital he is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, and Children’s Hospital, as well as Queensland Eye Hospital. He provides an outreach Vitreoretinal clinic in Cairns, North Queensland, as well as Sunnybank, in the southside of Brisbane.
