Dr Goutham Sivasuthan is a highly skilled Australian-trained General Surgeon who offers comprehensive care with a focus on minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and endoscopic techniques.
Dr Sivasuthan’s clinical interests include diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy, gallbladder disease, hernias (both minimally invasive and open), skin cancer and melanoma surgery, reflux (GORD), pilonidal disease, appendicitis, and emergency general surgery. He is an accredited endoscopist and colonoscopist with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).
After graduating from The University of Queensland with a double degree in Medicine and Biomedical Science, Dr Sivasuthan completed his medical residency at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He underwent extensive general surgery training at leading hospitals across Queensland, including Gold Coast University Hospital, developing advanced skills in minimally invasive surgery, upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, and colonoscopy.
Following the completion of his surgical training, Dr Sivasuthan undertook further fellowship training at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, with a subspecialty focus on reflux and hiatal hernia surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Sivasuthan has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed research publications, reflecting his commitment to advancing surgical knowledge and improving patient care. He is actively involved in surgical education as an Associate Lecturer at The University of Queensland, a Lecturer at Griffith University, and an instructor with the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP) program, training surgical trainees across Australia and New Zealand.
