Kim Hansen was appointed Director of St Andrew’s Emergency Centre in February 2017. She is an experienced Emergency Consultant with a passion for Safety and Quality in healthcare. Since obtaining her Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine in 2008, Kim has been extensively involved in ACEM and is a member of ACEM’s Council, Quality Committee Vice-chair and Chair of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM)’s Quality and Safety Special Interest Group.
She has been heavily involved in several Patient Safety projects including EMER (Emergency Medicine Events Register), IHI Accelerated Patient Safety Course, NICS Pain Management Initiative, RCH (Melbourne) Procedural Sedation credentialing, ACHS Clinical Indicators and the development of joint RCPA-ACEM and RANZCA-ACEM guidelines.
Born and bred in Brisbane, Kim graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours and a University Medal in 1998 and completed her Emergency Medicine training at Royal Melbourne Hospital. She has held Emergency Consultant positions at Box Hill Hospital in Melbourne, Holy Spirit Northside and The Prince Charles Hospital.
