Dr James Cameron is Director of the Queensland Cardiovascular Group and member of the St Andrew’s Medical Institute. His special interests are in Coronary Angiography, Coronary Angioplasty and Stenting, Patent Foramen Ovale and Atrial Septal Defect Closure.
Dr Cameron is a First Class Honours Graduate from the University of Queensland in Medicine, and has a Fellowship to the Royal College of Physicians in Cardiology.
Following completion of postgraduate training, Dr Cameron undertook a two year clinical and research training fellowship in the United States, attending both New England Medicine Centre in Boston and Stanford University Medical Centre in Palo Alto, California.
Currently Dr Cameron is a Visiting Medical Officer to St Andrews Hospital, and Mater private, South Brisbane, and previously a VMO at Prince Charles Hospital.
Dr Cameron is immediate past President of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand and Vice President of the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology.
Major interests at this point include the development of a National Procedures Registry for Cardiology, and initiatives in promoting indigenous cardiovascular health.
